DELAWARE
Regional Beers to look for: Dogfish Head Brewing.
Essential stops: The Dogfish Head pub in Rehoboth (the micro is in Lewes).
Just for fun: The Deer Park Inn in Newark. Rumor has it that an old Mason and Dixon border marker was once in the Deer Park's basement.
Best city for a pub crawl: Newark.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Regional beers to look for: No microbreweries operate in Washington, D.C., but because of unique laws, more imports have generally been available here. Plenty of East Coast micros are available in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Several retail stores offer massive selections of beer.
Essential stop: The Brickskeller.
Just for fun: Kramerbooks/Afterwords. Sip a craft beer at the bar and watch singles pretend to look for books while shopping for other singles. Remember, Monica Lewinsky shopped here.

MARYLAND
Regional beers to look for: DeGroen's (Baltimore Brewing), Clipper City Brewing, Frederick Brewing (Blue Ridge, Hempen Ale, Wild Goose and more).
Essential stops: Wharf Rat and Baltimore Brewing in Baltimore, Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis.
Just for fun: Blob's Park in Jessup. Polka until you drop. The first Oktoberfest in the United States allededly took place here in 1947.
Best city for a pub crawl: Baltimore, specifically Fells Point.

NEW JERSEY
Beers to look for: Flying Fish Brewing, High Point (Ramstein) Brewing, Climax Brewing.
Essential stops: The Ship Inn in Milford, The Old Bay in New Brunswick, Andy's Corner Bar in Bogota, Antone's in Cranford.
Just for fun: Quietly matching wits with the regulars playing NTN (interactive trivia) at Antone's.
Best city for a pub crawl: Hoboken.

NEW YORK
Regional beers to look for: Brooklyn Brewery, Middle Ages Brewing, the products of the Brewery Ommegang.
Essential stops: Clark's Ale House and Blue Tusk in Syracuse, d.b.a. and Blind Tiger in Manhattan, Waterfront Ale House in Brooklyn, the Old Toad in Rochester.
Just for fun: The Country Inn in Krumville. A Catskills beer outpost since 1975.
Best city for a pub crawl: Syracuse, specifically Armory Square.

PENNSYLVANIA
Beers to look for: Yuengling & Son, Yards Brewing, Victory Brewing, Stoudt's Brewing, Penn Brewing.
Essential stops: Monk's Cafe and the Standard Tap in Philadelphia, Northeast Tap Room in Reading, Victory Brewing in Downingtown, Sharp Edge Beer Emporium in Pittsburgh and KClingers in Hanover.
Just for fun: Straub Brewery in Saint Marys. Home of the Eternal Tap. You can pour yourself a free beer here, actually two. The brewery only asks that you quit after two and wash your glass when you are done.
Best city for a pub crawl: Pittsburgh, tough call (over Philadelphia) but Bloomfield Bridge Tavern puts the Steel City over the top.

VIRGINIA
Regional beers to look for: Old Dominion Brewing, Legends Brewing.
Essential stops: Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville, Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg, Bistrot Belgique Gourmande in Occoquan.
Just for fun: Green Leafe Cafe in Williamsburg, when like the rest of the town it is dressed up for Christmas.
Best city for a pub crawl: Arlington.
