As we note in the book, rating places is fun when it's just between the two of us, but not so easy when it's for public consumption.
You may well be right here right now because one of our ratings ticked you off. That's why you are welcome to use feedback in the form below.
Quite honestly, when we received the printed copy of the book we looked at the ratings and thought, "Gee, that's a two-star place not a three" or "We only game them one star?" That's why we know better than to take ourselves too seriously.
There are plenty of places in the book that receive "just" one star that we like a lot. In fact, in reviewing the ratings most of the changes would probably be to add a star to one-star establishments.
Perhaps you browsed through the book in a store, looking for your favorite spots, then put it down before reading about the ratings. Or a friend told you we gave a spot you hate 3 stars and your favorite brewpubs just one. In that case, the basics to remember are:
The difference between the 99-plus percent of the bars in this country that aren't in this book and the ones in this book that receive no stars is far greater than the difference between those with no stars and four.
Thus if we were to assign words, they would be along these linges:
1 star: Very Good
2 stars: Excellent
3 stars: Superior
4 stars: Extraordinary
Feedback time
One quick note: This form is designed for feedback about bars and brewpubs listed in the book. If you'd like to nominate a place not listed in the book (or if you don't have the book and just want to let us know about a place for the site) then you should use the full feedback form.
